Canadón Experience: Private Trek & Estancia Stay

The Canadón Experience invites you to explore the hidden canyons around El Calafate in a private setting. In a 4×4 ride you’ll reach the canyon entrance and begin a guided trek along Calafate Creek, passing through valley walls and observing unique fossils and geological layers. The hike leads you 7 km into the canyon, ascending about 400 m, until you arrive at “La Sección” of Estancia 25 de Mayo perched 800 m above sea level. There, in a peaceful ranch environment, you enjoy a hearty, locally prepared lunch before returning by vehicle. The private nature of the tour ensures it is tailored to your group’s pace and preferences.

You’ll be picked up at 10:00 AM from your hotel in El Calafate and transported by private 4×4 toward the canyon entrance. After a brief drive, you’ll begin the trek ascending through the canyon of the Calafate Creek. The valley walls shelter the trail as you hike ~7 km over about 3 hours, passing fossilized oyster reefs, marine fossils, and dramatic geological strata. Your guide will explain the long history written in stone as you walk.

At the end of the trek, you arrive at “La Sección” of Estancia 25 de Mayo, where a well-deserved lunch awaits: a multi-course Patagonian meal in a quiet ranch setting. After lunch and rest, you’ll return by the private vehicle to El Calafate, arriving back around 3:00 PM.
